Application Speed Differences on iPhone

Just wondering if anyone noticed that there is a huge issue with some applications on the iphone as far as speed goes. It also seems like this isnt related to features as some of the more intense applications (ones with the most functions) tend to be faster than some of the simpler ones.

I wonder if it has anything to with when they were developed.

Lets put it this way, launch an app, try to do a task and see how long it takes.

The real slugs seem to be (2-5 second load time)
-Youtube
-SMS
-Camera (though seems to be for more obvious reasons)

Medium Speed ones are (1-2 second load time)
-Calendar
-Photos
-Maps
-Clock
-notes

And the rest seem to be very fast and responsive. Just trying to figure out why youtube is so sluggish even if I had just launched it a few seconds earlier, returned to home, launched it again.

Fast (they load almost instantly or within less than a second.)
-Stocks
-Weather
-Calc
-Phone
-Mail
-Safari
-Itunes
-Ipod


Id like to point out im counting the time until the UI shows up, not the time it takes to load data for the apps that do download on launch. The weather one loads the ui very fast with a few seconds to download and update the data it needs, still, youtube seems to be the most sluggish. It has a similar layout to the ipod app but just sits there blank for long periods of time. Also, swapping between functions in youtube seems to take forever.

I would assume any differences in speed are directly dependent on how large the program itself it, along with how much resources it needs to use. Its the same as any other computer, some apps load instantly, others can take 20-30 seconds. Just because an app has many features, doesn't necessarily mean its a big app.

You Tube is probably an exception however as you also have to add in the time it takes to download the information/pics from You Tube's servers. The other internet enabled apps only need to grab quick data and seem to do so after loading, not before.
