Apple's servers have amazing bandwith.....

I've gotten 3-4Megabytes per second from a Microsoft.com server at my job... Gotta love fiber connections. 🙂
 
No wonder. It's powered by Akamai - they're in the business of mass content delivery. Also check out the movie trailers on Apple's site. I bet almost all of them are also hosted on Akamai's servers as well.

They must be making a ton of money. I've seen several other sites use them for big anticipated downloads.

i actually used winamp for a long time until WMP9 which i now use exclusively
