Based on all the rumors i've been hearing at the various sites, it seems like tomorrow is more of a Roadmap of the SDK to come, and that an actual SDK is still a few months out. If so, I wonder what is taking so long?

Steve had to pull all his engineers to work on iphone 2 and iphone nano. he also had to to tap his lawyers to figure out a loophole in the at&t deal so he can have an open device to slap onto verizon's network.

Wishful thinking in part or whole? :)

I'm pretty sure in whole. But if any bit of that is right, and we get an iphone 2 (other than just slapping 3G and minor updates).... I'm buying a dozen lotto tickets, haha

Verizon announced recently that they were moving to an entirely open network, i wonder if that means one will be able to unlock an iPhone and use it on their network. I know about the difference between CDMA and GSM, but my understanding was that Verizon was going to roll out GSM service.

Well CDMA and GSM are different cellular technologies, AT&T/T-Mobile use GSM, Verizon/Sprint/Alltel use CDMA/TDMA.

When Verizon said they were going to open their network, they were saying that they will allow Non-Verizon CDMA phones on their network, unfortunately not GSM. For Verizon to support GSM, it would require basically a revamp of their entire network structure.

I think you may have been confused because many of the articles also noted GSM in them as well, more as a counterpoint because GSM networks have supported this indirectly for years with unlocked phones (just pop in a sim and its on whatever GSM network you want).

I don't think we'll see a CDMA iPhone for awhile, but ya never know.

Ah, all the point counterpoint with the GSM v. CDMA must have thrown me :)
