Mangos are a pita. If I could have a tree like jeebus, I might have one to get free fruit, but I wouldn't pay any more than free for a mango.

Dragon fruit is one of the coolest looking fruit but is unfortunately very bland. I grow a couple varieties of yellow and purple ones that are much sweeter than most but still pretty bland.

only about 1/2 acre but it's an ideal pie shape and I keep the trees a manageable size. We fit anywhere from 50 - 75 producing fruit trees. I've toyed with buying anywhere from 5 - 10 acres but our lot with wide water and great soil is damn near impossible to beat.

If you mean bland as in sweetness, then yes. But I have to disagree if you think it's bland in flavor.

The "intensity" of the flavor is very delicate/light ...

I agree that the taste is out of this world... like sublime ... one of the best flavors ... but it's so subtle that a lot of people find it bland.

Just got home from a 7-day cruise. Looks like the squirrels and iguanas had a feast while there was no risk of air rifle death. Nice mix of fruit we picked today. Should be a great summer if the hurricanes stay away. Next couple weeks we'll probably have a couple hundred mangoes ripening up.

Different varieties of mango. Not an issue this early in the season as the 2 varieties fruiting now are easy to tell apart. Different story a month from now when we have 14 varieties fruiting and 200+ mangoes on the table.

It's that favorite time of year again... mango season is a bit late this year, but is getting into full swing now. Need to get a bb gun or something because the squirrels and iguanas are doing some major culling this year. Every morning I walk outside and find a dozen or so half-chewed mango corpses sprawled under the trees. Green spikey fruit in the middle is soursop/guanabana.

Mango season is awesome.

Pruning the mango trees post-harvest is less-than-awesome, especially in 90 - 95 degree heat. Managed to get through 1 tree this morning before feeling death creep up on me.

Maybe they've dumbed down the breeding for shipping, maybe I'm buying in the wrong places or not allowing them to ripen properly, don't know why, but more often than not I'm disappointed. We had a nectarine tree in the yard in L.A. A really good nectarine is excellent.

Anosmia, yeah I know. I'm not there. I don't have the covid... super low risk so far. Unless what I had late November was it, not likely. Possible, I suppose.

My sense of smell and taste is pretty acute. I really think the peaches I see in the stores aren't as good as the ones when I was a kid. Is it just me? Maybe.
