AppleCare Protection Plan is great

I bought a 4G iPod the day it came out and it had a dented back cover, the audio defect and lost the backlight settings if I didn't use it everyday. I sent it in to Apple under the protection plan and just received a brand new iPod (minus accesories of course). Props to Apple.
 
You should have got that no matter if you bought the extra thing or not. It was FUBAR when you got it.

I agree... you had to pay 49.95 so they would replace their defective item...

They would have replaced it on the standard warranty anyway. AppleCare just extends the regular warranty.
