AppleCare+ or something else? (iPhone 5S)

Does anyone have experience with other insurance plans? I hate using a case so I need a backup plan. For my iPhone 5 I got AppleCare+ this time around I figured I would look into alternatives.

Any ideas?
 
I have square trade in my wife's iPhone but I have not had to use it, if you sign up for their mailing list the usually send a couple of discount codes per week 20% off and stuff like that. I also have apple care + on my 4s after some issues I think I might try square trade also.
