From the POV of someone who can tell what a good rib is, how are these Applebee Riblets?

I'm a big fan of GOOD RIBS, so when I get something that most people think is good, it can sometimes just be O K to me.

Someone mentioned that the meat isn't tender with the riblets.

They're ok, but I haven't had them in a long time. I remember there being kind of a poor meat-to-bone ratio, but if they still have that all you can eat deal it wouldn't be so bad.

If you actually like ribs, as in you seek out hole-in-the-wall greasy spoons because you heard they might be covertly operating a smokehouse behind the restaurant, you will HATE them.
If you eat a lot of the mass market chain ribs (Rib-It, Outback, Dawsons, etc) you will dislike them.
If you hardly ever eat ribs you might enjoy them.

There is good stuff at Applebee's, though. Just not riblets.

Applebee's Riblets ...

I tried them once and they were mostly gristle and bone.

The best thing I've had at Applebee's is their Strawberry/Raspberry Lemonade. :)

They are ok...nothing special. I went to an all you can eat apple's riblet special and man....those things don't taste good after a few of them.

Now go to like TGIF and get Jack Daniel's honey glazed baby back ribs and I can eat a full rack in 10 min or less and then still wnat more. TGIF has some kick ass Baby back ribs.

I personally like the riblets, but only when they're all you can eat. I like being a fat american and eating more than I should....especially when it's processed meat that you wouldn't normally eat unless it's smothered in bbq sauce.

If you want good ribs, go to someplace like the original Dreamland BBQ in Tuscaloosa, AL. I ate almost an entire slab by myself the last time I was there and I'm not a big eater.

Applebee's riblets are ok for what they are but I wouldn't rate them highly.

I personally do not like them. nothing really to them with just some ok bbq sauce.
The chicken tenders are VERY tasty though.

We have Dreamland here in Birmingham and they're pretty good also. Applebee's is passable but nothing great.

Riblets = cat ribs.

Oh, and Applebees is on my ban list... I got sick of being ignored and having cold food brought to my table.

Yeah, there's a couple in Atlanta and one in Mobile, Montgomery, and Huntsville. However, the original place in Tuscaloosa just blows the others out of the water. It's probably the decades of fat and grease that have been built up on their grills. The others are franchises that opened up after "Big Daddy" Bishop passed and are OK but not as good as the original.

For some reason, their food are too salty. Doesn't matter where I went (tries 3 or 4 stores with 1 or 2 stores came back a few time). :(
