<< A recent report by ZDNet states that Steve Jobs blamed Apple's recent financial woes on slowing sales of the PowerPC G4 Cube, concerns over G4 chip speeds and a switch in its education sales strategy. Jobs is looking to increase sales of its G4 Cube through strategies such as a $300 rebate, as well as the introduction of lower-cost versions this spring. Jobs also mentioned the "megahertz gap" between Apple machines and other PCs based on x86 chip architecture. Jobs said Apple is working with Motorola to introduce higher-speed processors equal to Intel-standard systems. >>

-LOL, now they know that most (tech illiterate) people buy MHz!

LOL if they cant get high mhz yields now I dont think it will magicaly increase. This might actualy kill macs especialy with the p4 who's gona buy a 550 mhz g4 when you can buy a 1.4 ghz p4(even tho it's slower than a 1ghz t-bird but stupid people buy clockspeed anyways)

Who knows if they will ever be used in macs, but check out this link about the new Power4 CPU. Two cores on 1 chip with 1.5 megs of shared L2 cache and up 8 cores on 1 package. Then there is the specualtion about the speed- 1.5 ghz(per core?):Q

Yup Apple's in trouble.
Tech Illiterate people buy for Mhz which apple doesn't have.
Tech literate people know that the Apple platform is pretty crappy for most things. (I love the G4 clock/clock it's a great CPU, and OSX is a good step in the right direction, but the Apple platform overall still needs some work)
