The patent system is out of control. Apple doesn't innovate shit, they PROUDLY and BLATANTLY steal other people's innovations (i.e. multitouch), patent it, and claim they came up with the idea.

Software patents need to be done away with.

I hope Google/Motorola destroy Apple in their suit. That's the only way i think we'll ever get reform.

Also, apparently, the jury is fucking retarded, so it's no surprise Apple won. I guess Apple was able to smartly strike any juror that had any technologically competent bone in their body and all the dumbass apple fanboys stacked the jury:

LOL:

Judge Koh is back in the courtroom. There are at least two problems with the verdict form.

4:53:13 PM PDT
The jury appears to have awarded damages for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE infringing — $219,694 worth — but didn't find that it had actually infringed anything.

4:54:37 PM PDT
A similar inconsistency exists for the Intercept, for which they'd awarded Apple over $2 million.

Apple related-
Microsoft is launching their tablet with a keyboard integrated into the lid. Apple liked the idea so much that they are attempting to patent it.

Microsoft is really the only smart player here IMHO.

They signed a licensing agreement with Apple so they would never get mired in this kind of BS. Samsung grew up big time today.

Ugg, it's all over now, I have to agree with Phokus.

I have never been an Apple fan and this just adds to it. I remember back in the mid-late 90's they would take a standard $600 19" computer monitor, (that's high but not for the mid 90's) slap their own proprietary video connector on it and charge $1800 for it. They are well known for charging 3X and more for what their products should be worth. At least when the iPod came out they had to compete with similar technologies and charge a decent price.

Agreed; this is the principle reason I won't use Apple products anymore. Their products are usually pretty good quality but their business model is so repugnant that I have no interest in acquiring them.

There is a mirror thread in Off-topic as well

Apple just had better jury researchers.

Any person who knew anything about technology most likely didn't make it through jury selection.

Idiot jury fooled by Apple Reality Distortion field.

They probably shouldn't be allowed to breed for the sake of the human race.

And a couple of other statements. I like the one referring to Rambus.
Wow, incredible bullshit there. Ah well, it's only a matter of time before Apple becomes irrelevant once more. They're becoming the RAMBUS of the modern era.
I love my iPhone and have pretty much the whole Apple ecosystem(iPhone, iPad, Macbook Pro, and Apple TV) but I agree. Apple's insistence on not changing the GUI and rationing features for years to justify the next OS upgrade is going to bite them in the ass in the end. Granted it's going to be a long time down the road, the Apple train has a massive head of steam behind it. I'm thinking more Blackberry than RAMBUS. RAMBUS never really caught the traction it needed. Overpriced like Apple but not desired like Apple.

and these sort of amusing ones.
iPhones are for girls.....I don't see many men with them anymore.
I do. But it's usually the same guys who drive around in M3's cheating on their women.

Given how much stuff Apple buys from Samsung (reportedly $7.8 billion last year), this will just be about a 13% discount.

I have a similar opinion on how Toyota slaps the word "Lexus" on a car, and charges $20k - $40k more for it.

they use their Lexus to drive to the apple store.

Get this, Apple just expanded thier store in a local mall here. The new store is 4 times the size of their old store and they have to take reservations for someone to even get in the new store. .
