Digital distribution still has a LONG way to go IMO. Unless there's some drastic change... an HD movie is far easier to rent than to deal w/ connection issues and download times. Streaming? How many times has it gotten stuck for you... it is just not the same experience as plopping in a disc and enjoying your popcorn..... YET.
With that, something is needed... if not for media, for pure storage. Altho, even bluray is short on that. HDD's are cheaper still, but at hopefully we'll have something that's archival quality.
