Will a third party lcd (i.e, Dell 2001FP) connected via DVI be recognized by a Powermac G5? Also, will a Powermac G5 recognize and read files from the SATA HD in my current computer when connected?

I can't be 100% sure on the flat panel(I don't own one), but as long as the Mac has DVI, there is no reason that I know of why it wouldn't work. As for the SATA drive, it will work as long as you have SATA support on the Mac and the drive is FAT32; Apple hasn't officially added NTFS support, so if it were NTFS, you'd have to hope and pray that the command-line Mount utility recognizes it.

The Dell flat panel will work fine.

OS X will also read both FAT32 and NTFS hard drives. It will also write FAT32, but cannot write to an NTFS disc. I'm told the NTFS support is a bit flaky too.

If you want to read the files just to transfer over that's fine, but if you want to use the drive on your Mac, you should reformat to HFS+. It's the fastest HD format on the Mac, and supports a few features for Mac OS X that FAT32 doesn't support.

Another option for transferring files is simply over the network.
