I have a 10 month old Macbook. Last week I was installing something from CD and when I tried to get the CD out, I just heard some funny noises and that was it. Some googling showed that I was not the only one with CD or DVD's that get stuck in the superdrive. This laptop is still under warranty so I went to a mac dealer to have a look at it. Now they want to charge me 150 euro for the repairs because of "customer abuse". I told them "WTF, there are no moving parts on the outside of the DVD drive, how can I brake something". You can just put a CD / DVD in and hope that it comes out afterwards.

It looks like warranty is worth nothing anymore.

I called Apple support Belgium and they can not do anything for me

That's been my experience, as well. I actually had the exact same thing happen, except I yanked out the CD with a screwdriver, then sent it in for repairs :p

You think apple is bad? Try HP.
They sent a tech to fix a "noisy" server at one of our remote offices. Well the tech couldn't tell where the noise was coming from. Want to know why? The tech was deaf.

Absolutely every person I know that has tried to get Apple to honor the warranty, even with the extended ones...apple has cited abuse. Usually they will say the customer dropped it and find some blemish on the case to 'prove' it.

my superdrive failed as well (I think i googled and found something wrong with the latest firmware update) and I got it fixed for free, had my computer 11 months now. I do have the AppleCare extended warranty but this still fell within the original 1 year warranty.
