Apple support has impressed me

Now, I dislike Steve Jobs as much as the next Anti-Apple person, but I must admit that their customer service is excellent.

Recently, my 5th gen 60gb ipod's sound stopped working. I read online about pressing down on the lower-right side would cause the sound to temporarily return. It worked, thus confirming that it was a bad solder point. It was suggested I called Apple.

I called them up and I did not have to wait. The CS rep took my serial number and told me that my warranty expired long ago (bought it in 2005, iirc), but for me to describe my problem. He practically finished my sentence and transferred me (instantly) to a specialist who explained the problem and that Apple would replace the ipod for me free of charge since it was their manufacturing problem that caused it.

They sent a box to ship it back to them overnight FedEx, the return label was also overnight. I sent it back and they mailed the replacement today, should be in tomorrow. I originally spoke with the CS reps on Sunday.

Most impressive, shame their laptops lack certain keys and a trackpoint😛

I was impressed with them with a recent experience as well. I had spilled beer a while back on my MBP which caused the backlit keyboard no longer be backlit. More recently, the mousepad and button stopped working (the button froze in place, and tapping the trackpad would no longer work). Also, the battery decided to burst, yay. Since I had AppleCare on the unit, I took it into my local Apple store and asked that they repair the device and mentioned that some of the repair would likely be under warranty and some might not.

Less than 24 hours later the repairs were done and there was no charge.

I had a few dead pixels that developed on my 2008 macbook pro, and apple (with applecare) replaced the entire top clamshell. brand new casing and everything with new led screen to boot.

As much as I hate the guys that work at the Apple store, I love apple's service. I've had my iphones replaced countless amount of times. Even took back my old keyboard after dropping coffee in it (which was clearly visible) and they replaced it without questions.

I took my 3 year old, out of warranty, original MacBook in and they replaced the topcase and bezel around the display for free, just because they were cracked. I have had nothing but a reasonable experience with Apple support/techs. Logitech, that is another company that I have had good experiences with.
