Apple Studio Display Question.

I have an opportunity to get an Apple Studio Display 22in m4868 from an authorized post lease dealer for 250$. Look awesome in store however I have question about if it will work with a PC and more specifically with the 2000 pro OS. ANyone have insight to this?

Apple Studio displays use a proprietary connector that will only work on Macs--and only newer Macs at that. You're up a creek as far as using it on a PC goes, unless there's some hack floating around.

I'd say buy it and then turn around and sell it yourself, if that's possible to do. With the money, you could get a nice LCD for your PC.

Ive seen a device like that at Fry's with the widescreen apple display hooked up to a PC. It wouldnt allow me to put the resolution above 1280X___ though, Im not sure if that is a limitation of the monitor or the specific converter box they used.

Are you certain it was the 22"? The 22" has a 1600x1024.
On the other hand, the 17" is limited to 1280x1024.

It is the 22 in version, and I was looking at it run in 1600x1200 mode in store.
The monitor in question does have a port which would attach to a PC, at least by visually looking at it, it appears to be a fit. I just didnt want to purchase it to find out it in fact is NOT compatible with a PC.

Yes, an Apple display can be attached to a PC, but you need a DVI adapter. At the Apple store where I used to work, our tech's favorite was the Dr. Bott's DVIator. It runs about $100, but is well worth it considering a new 22" Apple Studio Display sells for $2500. It's a truly excellent monitor, and I'd never even consider passing one up at a price like $250.

I have an Apple 22" LCD Cinema Display running on my Athlon XP 2000+/Radeon 8500/WinXPpro machine just fine.
I use a Dr.Bott DVI-ADC connector converter ($149). Works like a charm.
Native resolution is 1600 x 1024 (16:10 aspect ratio), and the picture is fantastic. On the Radeon, it'll also do 1280x1024 (square or stretched), 1280x768, 1024x768 and 800x600.

The Apple 22" Cinema Display is the only current Apple display that has hardware buttons for screen brightness. All others have software controls that only work on a Mac. The 22" model has physical brightness up/down buttons that work w/out a Mac. No other adjustable controls - the screen is a fixed-contrast display like many laptop LCDs, and there are no picture/color controls (aren't any on a Mac, either).
But it works great on my PC!

Retail is like $2400, so I'd be a little suspect about the price. But if legit, see if they've got two! I'll take the other one!

I'll take a coulple. Mmmmm..... Dual 22" Flat panels. would make these 2 19" CRTs look pretty lame.
