Zy, I take it you didn't return your iPhone in trade for a Bold?

No I have not yet returned it, have not gotten a chance. I just got out of class and now have to go get my wisdom teeth taken out. Ill probably go return it next Tuesday as that is the next day I am free. Ill probably go back to my old phone while I wait for the bold to be released.

Back on topic...wasn't a new nano just released not too long ago?

They generally release a new/updated nano every year. I think they refresh all ipods in the September time frame, and give an incremental (storagewise) update in the spring.

Personally, I like the taller nanos vs. the wider ones, I still have my 1G going strong.

Meeting doesn't start until 10PST.

Rumors are new nano (pretty much confirmed), lower price on touches, and possibly subscription for itunes.

Let's see, grabbing unabashedly from Engadget:

There's a new iPhone/iPod Touch firmware - 2.1 - which improves battery life and call quality
http://www.engadget.com/2008/0...ware-update-announced/

There a new iPod Touch which is really, really thin, and has a better built-in speaker.
http://www.engadget.com/2008/0...-same-screen-new-case/

There's a new iPod Nano (4G) which is tall, thin and rounded and has a bigger screen:

There's new $80 in-ear headphones. A bit expensive, but they are Apple-white so they'll probably sell well.
http://www.engadget.com/2008/0...-79-in-ear-headphones/

There's a new iTunes - version 8. NBC is coming back to iTunes. They are offering HD versions of TV shows for $3 each (and presumbly a cheaper "season pass"), iTunes now offers "genius" playlists that organize music by "type" (presumably this is like Pandora for your music library).

I think that's it.

Here's the full transcript (again, thank you to Engadget):

I picked up a 2G Ipod Touch to replace the 3G Ipod Nano my wife washed a couple of weeks ago. I guess the good thing is the Nano still works and I have it attached to my Alpine headunit in my truck, but the LCD doesn't work - only the backlight! I then found out you can get another OEM LCD for around $30 and fix it yourself. I wasn't about to tell my wife that though. So I ended up with a new touch :)

Details, details! Engadget says that it's thinner. ("As expected, Apple just updated the iPod touch with a new thinner stainless steel case -- it's still got the same display." and "Here she is, the iPod touch! It's definitely thinner than the iPhone, and feels completely solid (as we'd hope it would).") I mean what do your silly little measured specification numbers mean in the real world compared to some hastily written and inaccurate mini-reviews from a website? ;)

:)

It would be nice to have a tapered design. The current iPod Touch is too hard to pick up from a flat surface.
