Apple software update is wack!

I heard 7.02 is out and checked Apple Software Updater. Nothing.

Checked Itunes and it's available. WTF is up with Apple Software Updater.

7.0.2 was posted yesterday. There may be a delay between the time it's posted and the time the updater picks it up.

Gee, according to every Apple user I've ever talked you, you never have to upgrade Apple software / operating systems, nor patch it, nor download drivers because they all come built into the OS.

Only Microsoft software requires patches and updating, so you must be hallucinating or something.

 The people that tell you that are morons and shouldn't be using computers.

Apple's software update utility comes pre-configured to automatically check for updates weekly.

Have you been talking to Mac from the commercials? 'Cuz he's the only one that I've ever heard making claims like that. Except for the drivers part, I've never had to go anywhere for drivers for my powerbook, but that should be the case any time you buy a hardware/os bundle.

You can download it now.

No Mac user on AnandTech ever wrote something like this, so I have a couple of propositions for you:
[*]If you are upset by a friggin' Apple commercial, write Apple a furious Email
[*]Talk with your imaginary "Apple user friends" about the OS X patch system
[*]Stop the flamebaiting at the AT forums or at least reduce it to ATOT threads

TIA!

I have. I needed a wireless driver for a third party wireless adapter because I'm poor. 🙂

Apple software still hasn't updated any software other than itself, which seems stupid.

And I'm getting really pissed at apple's software. Why can't it just update itself instead of making me download the whole thing and uninstalling the old and then installing the new. For every little POS update I have to go through this whole process. That's BS.

Step 1: Download iTunes update in Software Update
Step 2: ??? ( <- iTunes must not be running during the installation of the new version)
Step 3: Profit! 😉

There's no need to de-install manually. If you deinstalled iTunes you either were impatient and downloaded 7.02 elsewhere or you didn't understand the Software Update process correctly.

It's not that special for updates to surface on a website first and in an automatic install later. (Recent example: Internet Explorer 7 for Windows).

Software Update searches new versions of OS X, Quicktime and iApps, non-Apple apps sometimes have their own built-in updaters, nothing wrong with that?
