Apple shut down development of Y'zDock?

I was just checking for an update of Y'zDock.. but the program and Website has been taken offline with the following message: "I stopped development and distribution of Y'z Dock. Notice to Y'z Dock user. 1. Please stop use of Y'z Dock at once. 2. Please do not re-distribute Y'z Dock."

Apples doing? What grounds could they have in somthing like this? He was just creating a program that emulates the behavoir of one of Apples. Under that same principle.. any.. say web-browser made after moasic (first one?) would also be illegal.. or any mp3 player created after the first one.. Apple should be suied for making iChat.. afterall, its emulating the behavior of programs available to Windows users for several years.. or even their new 'Fast User Switching'. Thats been in XP for nearly two years now..


Edit: Yup, Apples doing. Reading his Front page makes it clear. Thats really lame. Seems more like a Microsoft tactic then apple..
 
Acting like the 'Dock' bar in OS X.

The fancy thing with nice Icons which are animated in a cool fasion when you mouse over them.
 
Actually, I'm surprised he was able to work on it for so long. It was clearly a rip of osx. But, I am running the latest version and it r0x!!
 
i have the installer for version .0075 and im going to run it till they come and stop me. is there a newer version then this out. that ill have to go find someplace?

Nope. They are a company. They are trying to make money. They like their lawyers as much as Billy boy himself.
 
I'm always amused that people seem to think Apple is a "nice" company...they are just as cut-throat as anyone else (and worse than most)

Trademarks people, trademarks, copyrights, and IP. Apple went through all the efforts to create the dock(others came before mind you, but Y'z was an obvious port of Apple's), so they're allowed to take the fruits of their labor. It's not like R&D is free you know...
 
can they shut it down even though it was free? as long as he wasn't charging people for it what grounds do they have?
 
I love this little app.. to bad I'll have to stop using it now..

I'd expect this from M$, I guess apple too now.
 
haha, a ghetto dock for Windoze. Funny how Windows users generally slam Apple but there are all these themes and utils to make Windows look like OS X. Funny that.

No, they jsut have a copyright on thier dock. Y'z dock is not being targetted by Apple because it's a neat little launcher app, but because it's an attempt at an exact clone of Apple's.

You don't think that if Sierra released Half-Life 2, and a couple months later some other company realeased "Z's Half-Life 2", which was an exact clone of Half-Life 2, that they'd get sued?

People on here bitch and complain when someone copies thier website design, and the rest of the members always side with the original designer... why is this different?

Yeah. Funny. Too bad there aren't any ghetto progs out there thet let Apple users run Windows apps with 100% compatibility. Look and feel is easy.

Well there is Virtual PC, but I didnt buy a Mac to run Windows apps, that's what my PC is for. The best emulator is having the actual hardware and OS sitting right next to you.
