Looking good. Apple's doing a very good job of targeting the home market with the new iMac. A simple remote adds a ton of functionality that aids lounging around in the family room.

too bad about battery life on 30gig... 2hrs for video is weaksauce. Especially with non removavble battery

Powerbooks and Powermacs are supposed to be updated later this week or early next according to rumors. I would expect big upgrades to the powermacs especially; the iMac having pci express and ddr2 support is certianly a foreshadowing of what the powermacs will get.

IMO it is still pointless for the home user, how hard is it to open a folder and click on a file?

Not hard at all. It's about not only ease of use, but accessibility. This is a great computer for the living room or family room, like I said before. A lot of people don't have an high tech PC setup in their rooms as the main computer in the house, many people have a 'family pc' that is off to the side in the central area of their home. And this will help in bringing that computer into the main areas of at home living.

Want to change songs quickly? Hit a button on your remote, rather than walking across the room to do it. Want to show off some pictures while you have friends over? Hit a button on the remote. Video clip? You get the picture. As far as sitting on your couch and watching a dvd on the iMac; nobody is going to do that. But the 'home' style software they're introducing will see great acceptance, especially among people that already have an iMac to reduce clutter.

This isn't a professional machine, but they're doing a great job at making it a personal computer.

Bout time they have started doing this. I cannot believe how long it has taken these companies to create video on demand..

Needs more support for more shows than merely disney and some abc. Also no thanks to Quicktime...
