If apple would of released as many apps for android as google does for ios im sure this backlash wouldn't happen, but since their first app for android is how to move away from android they're getting what they deserve.

Your complaining about the Android community is completely unwarranted IMHO. You get the same attitudes/jingoism with ANY popular technology community. And I just don't mean iOS users (but they are famous for some traits), go to a console forum sometime and you will see comments 1000x times worse. If what you said influences people's decisions actually did, then no one would buy a PS4 OR and Xbone to avoid the association with those crazies. But we know that isn't the case.

Oh, I know this is common across tech as a whole... the issue is that they're trolling in a place where it's not just futile (as it is most of the time), but potentially counterproductive. You don't convince someone to stick with your platform by being jerky about it.

And in practice, I know this won't move the needle much. It's just disgusting and may hurt Android's case more than it helps.

I think more than anything it just shows that those Android fans who try to take the moral high ground over various Apple and Google matters should look in their own backyard first before calling Apple fans names.

Get your own ship in order first before calling out anyone else.

The one star reviews are about as childish as Apple rejecting apps that simply name competing platforms:

Seriously? You have Google who actually ports their popular services over to iOS. And in the other corner, Apple will reject an app simply because it has the word "Android" in it.
You act like Google releases its services on iOS for the good of the world. They make money off of your data regardless of what platform you use. That's why it's in THEIR interest to bring Chrome and all Google services to OS X, Windows, Linux, etc users.

It's not like Google doesn't have requirements on its own Play Store either.

Apple's business model isn't creating a bunch of services for you to use. They don't have a business model where they build your data as much as they can. They want YOU to use their services which are exclusive to their platform because ultimately it's their hardware margins giving them ginormous profits.

So yes, it makes sense that they're releasing a move to iOS app. The business models of the two companies are fundamentally different.

You seem to skip the point of the App Store's policy of rejecting approval based on the mention of a rival while allowing Apple to have an app in the Play Store solely for ditching Android.

It's weird how you focused on Google's services on other platforms.

It works pretty well, just used it to help migrate wife to an iPhone 6+, actually pretty impressive. It only works on iOS 9, had to update her OS, then use the app.

Well that's because he is bias against Google and Android. Same as the person in OP.

In all honesty, I love Android and been using it since 2009, but I'm not liking what Google is doing lately. I also don't like Apple and their restricted ecosystem, so either go back to Blackberry or go with Windowsphone (my wife just got one and it's pretty nice but severely lacking in good apps).

There are concerns about both, to be sure. However, is it really shocking? Apple is a hardware company, and it doesn't want to see its store populated with apps marked "Android" that encourage you to leave its devices or otherwise get Android's brand into your head. That's especially true when Apple has long felt that Google stabbed it in the back (see: having Eric Schmidt on Apple's board while quietly trying to destroy Apple's business, among other things).

Besides, there's two sides to this coin. It kinda sucks that Apple doesn't allow Android-themed apps, but you could also argue that Google is silly to maintain a laissez-faire attitude that undermines Android. It has no choice but to allow a competitor to post an app encouraging people to leave Android, lest it be deemed a hypocrite.

Pretty good idea on Apple's end actually. Though I don't think they'd allow Google to make the same thing and post it to Apple's store, so I think it's BS

Poorly written, clearly fake butt hurt sounding reviews don't make Apple look bad here. It makes Google and the play store look bad. As for Apple getting what they deserve, I suspect in reasonable peoples eyes Apple will come out looking better here. I've never seen an app on the app store with endless troll reviews. And in the end this will probably just make Apple not give 2 damns about making any more of their apps on Android.

I own both, and I will say Android fan boys take their nonsense to a level well beyond what's needed in throwing hate at iOS & Apple.

I'm sure Apple will care about making apps for Android, but only those that directly serve its purposes. Apple Music makes sense for Android because its goal is reach, in the same way that iTunes is available for Windows. Many other apps either depend on iOS to work, are used as selling points for iOS devices, or both.

And there are annoying fanpeople on both sides! It's just that trolls like these don't see the irony of claiming to be superior (because that's really what this is about, not legit platform differences) while behaving disgracefully.

It makes Google and the play store look bad.

Maybe to the .5% of people who care about this and probably don't like Google anyways. Most people won't notice, and most of those who do won't care. In another month it will be completely forgotten about.

It doesn't make anyone look bad unless you're new to the internet.

This is pretty stupid for everyone involved.
