Apple releases Mac OS X 10.4.10 Update

The update (72MB download for Intel Macs and 25MB download for PowerPC Macs) includes general operating system fixes, as well as specific enhancements to RAW camera support and third-party application support.

always download the combo! yes it's larger, but i've had much better luck going that route. oh, and repair permissions after updating.

anyway, 10.4.10 here and going fine.

10.4.10 installed without a hitch, and seemed to take care of my eject button problem (I would push teh button, but nothing would happen) so I guess I am happy

Repairing permissions after updating does not make sense. The OS X Installer maintains a list of all the proper permissions that it has set. Given that it has just finished running, it would make the most sense that the permissions it just set are going to be the same as when you go and check against that list. Repairing permissions -before- updating MIGHT be useful in some cases.

i've had a few issues after patches with permissions, so it's just something i do now. ymmv. it fixed a problem i was having with my dvd player after 10.4.9.

I would wager that those problems may have been caused by permission issues that existed prior to the patch installation. The OS X Installer would have updated the permissions list to reflect the changes it made and checking against that list (regarding what it changed) would not result in anything needing a change as long as the patch was developed properly to not disrupt its own permission changes. The subsequent permission fix most likely solved the permissions issues that existed before but caused no conflicts until the patch.
