like I posted in the other thread at SFF/Notebook forum...I think it's nice but it's too big to carry around.

Can someone please explain to me why a 17" macbook with an intel chip is $2500 while a 17" laptop from any other company can be found under $1500 with the same specs? Maybe before on the powerpc architecture they could claim superiority but really, what's the difference now?

the apple one is better built than cheap plastic dells. much thinner and lighter weight as well. and apple isn't putting in leaky taiwanese capacitors.

edit: dell is charging $2000 for a similar config today, and i bet the battery life is nowhere near as good as the apple. and the dell doesn't have the x1600, just an x1400. to get better specs, you'd probably need to throw down another $200 for the 7800 go and another battery. then you'll be stuck lugging around 2 batteries and a notebook so big that dell doesn't want to tell you how big it is.
