This seems like a question that would have been answered before, but I could not find it by searching.

I am thinking about purchasing an iBook G4, and I was curious what the 1.33 ghz processor is equivalent to in terms of AMD or Intel processors.

Also, what about 800 mhz and 1 ghz processors?

Im not to sure but I'll take a guess off the top of my head here. I said a 1.33 Mac would be close to a 1.6-1.8Ghz AMD-Intel

They are very different, and there is no good answer.

Depending on the task, a 1.33 GHz iBook is equivalent to a 3 GHz pentium, or a 500 MHz pentium. These are extreme examples, and probably could only be demonstrated by someone with a very complete grasp of the processors. They use entirely different instruction sets, unlike Intel/AMD they aren't really apples to apples comparable.

I have a 1.25? GHz Ibook (older, but not that old), and I would say that, qualitatively it feels slower than Intel/AMD laptops running around 2GHz. But this is responsiveness only. For instance, opening an application just takes longer on my iBook, but running a Mathematica program (almost the only thing I ever do) goes faster.
