So, my sister is buying me a bday present, a Macbook. Yes, I know I'm very lucky. :)

She lives in California, I live in Canada. Any problems with me having the laptop up here even though it was bought in USA?

Will there be any issues if I ever need to use the warranty?

From Apple's hardware warranty page:

If the product is portable, meaning that it can operate independently without a power cord, you may obtain warranty service worldwide. However, service will be limited to the options available in the country where service is requested.

So in short, you can get it fixed if it falls within warranty. I've checked the extended AppleCare warranty and it applies there as well.
