Apple Computer reported tonight that they will miss Wall St expectations.

Slow sales in "Back to school" and the G4 Cube.

Traded at $53 today.

Now $29 after hours.

Ouch.

I guess people realized that the iCraps are just polished turds. Funny how Photoshop benchmarks are the only real argument Mac people have to counter x86 computers. Gimme my Q3 and UT @ 60FPS+ and not some stupid slideshow.

macs are good for the majority of computer illiterate people, they are simple, and basically idiot prooft(though nothing is idiot proof to a talented idiot) but for people who like to tweak and upgrade, then they are definatly not the right thing to get ;)

A common misconception, and one which Apple is happy to perpetuate. Macs are no less prone to crashing due to user error than a comparable PC running Win9x.

I will say that the G4 running OS 9 runs pretty solid. Can leave it for days without crashing.

However, some of the older Macs were a pain in the arse. Always rebooting.

I find Win NT needs a reboot once a week or so.

I am actually pretty happy with the NT, MAC OS9 combo I have to use.

Really the best I've had in awhile.

I only reboot about twice a month now with Windows 2000, and that's just out of habit (it's weird not restarting my computer twice a day due to a crash....thanks to Microsoft I got used to it). Windows 2000 is definately the way to go. :)

What are you guys thinking?? OF COURSE APPLE IS THE SUPERIOR PLATFORM. Was this at any point in time in any sort of doubt? My apple is so much more superior to it's PC counterpart. Ya, ya... flame all you want I KNOW I'm right.

Ok in light of my last post, a few disclosures. My Mac SE with it's 1meg of ram WAS vastly superior the the standard 256k of pc ram back then. Even the "upper end" pc's had 512 and that was it. So what if I never had another mac after that... :) Yes my platform now is PC I'm just giving my asbestos undies it's weekly test. :) It's hard to believe that I used to be a mac guy... I've since learned the error of my ways. PRAISE BE THE PC!!

These problems are not exclusive to Apple or Intel. The whole tech sector is getting wrecked. Even Cisco got downgraded, which is a first for them IIRC.

I guess I hate Apple beacuse of the nuts that associated with them. I can acknowledge that the x86 is not the best architecture but I like it beacause I can tweak it and its widely available. I use MS products but I can acknowledge they have poor business practices that have stagnated innovation. Talk with an Apple zealot and it Photochop this, Photoshop that. Here is a typical conversation:

Windogg: I like the x86 beacause there is a lot of software.
AppleNut: I can run Photoshop faster. Bill Gates sucks.
Windogg: Apple is propriatary and you pay more for equiviliant performance.
AppleNut: Photoshop is faster on Mac: Intel Sucks.
Windogg: I like all the games available like Q3 @ 60FPS.
AppleNut: Yea but Photoshop renders quicker: AMD Sucks.
Windogg: Apple OSes can be just as unstable as Windows
AppleNut: Photoshop run great on Macs. Windows sucks.
Windogg: I like to be able to put together my own system with widely available parts
AppleNut: Yea but I can run Photoshop very fast.

Oh well.

Hee hee Windogg, so true ...

Of course, if we only had those Vector Engines in our PC's, then we could run Photoshop just as fast! :Q
