Just sitting here...got my aluminum Apple keyboard bout 3 months ago...love it, but damn, the keys are already worn down...what was once slight textured is now smooth as ice.

I dont know, just something I found odd considering the price of it.

Anyone else know of a short travel awesome keyboard that last longer than a couple months?

This happened to a Asus barebone laptop I bought. Most of the keys looked really shiny and weird after like 4 months of using it.

Exactly! Like...wtf? I dont eat at or around my keyboard, so I know its not grease...I properly wipe if down if its gets splashed with jizz...I mean, theres no reason for this other than cheap ass plastic...seriously...

The keys are coated to provide texture, and that in your case it is just the coating wearing off. It will make the caps look shiny and discolored. They use this coating because it is much cheaper and it is done as part of the process that prints the letters.

my older ms natural had more wear resistant keys than the new one. on the new 4000 you can see shiny area around the lettering because its just a decal, those wear rather more quickly. the older models seemed to have some depth to the lettering.
