This always happens after press events and such. It'll go up again later. Wall Street is really hard to impress. Plus, wasn't their gross margin down?

Netflix basically had a monopoly and took down the giants, yet their stocks were flatline for years.

Why? I sell the stock now using a margin account, and buy it back later when the stock drops. I don't need to know the second he dies... just that he WILL die sooner rather than later.

Tell that to all the people who lost their shirts when they shorted the housing market in 2006.

You don't need to know the second, but you should be within a couple months.

He doesn't need to die, he only needs to step down as CEO... it's not like the stock will stay up out of sentiment because he's still living and breathing.

Chances are good that he'll just have a stroke one day in his office. Maybe after the release of some Android numbers...

Of course, it would be impossible to predict the date of this happening, unless you were sneaking him blood clotting drugs...

It's amazing.... A record quarter with record sales and record profits, but it's still not good enough for Wall Street.

It's about future guidance too.

It seems like the earnings were priced into the share price before the earnings report. So any additional upswing would be due to a good future guidance which perhaps apple didn't give.

Today

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/10/19/jobs_on_android/

Jobs is full of sht, Android is clearly outselling the iPhone. Jobs better enjoy the profits while they last, Android will be releasing a better version of the iPad soon.

that was the quarter where they were transitioning from 3GS to iphone 4, hence the lower sales figures.

If people looked today, the stock is only down a couple of percent since yesterday's close and today is down market. After hours, doesn't really mean much normally.

LOL - That vaporware has been "being" released for over a year. Has any hit the market? Nope.

Apple stock is up? Imagine that!

Sometimes people insist reading into things. As I said it's nothing about Apple, it's about a stock that has risen significantly in a short time and investors taking profits.

Probably has something to do with Android overtaking iOS in market share. Apple simply cannot compete.

LMAO !!!

Android is far from being as good as the iphone OS and yes I have had more than a few android s since the G1 and most recently the vibrant...and I am still holding / using my iphone 4....

android hype is just that....hype.

This is the perfect example of an apple hater. Look, he even references an android tablet that doesnt even exist yet!! Look guys, VAPORWARE IS GOING TO DESTROY THE IPAD!

I really hate to say it, but.. First, I have never used an iPhone. My last phone was a Blackberry Pearl, so I don't really know, but from what I've heard the iOS is pretty nice.. I'm a PC user, though. I thought a Linux OS would be right up my alley. And it is.

I now have a Droid. Unfortunately, while simultaneously being the most awesome phone I've ever used, it is also the worst. It pains me to say that because I generally hold Google in such high regard. It does things that no phone should do, like spontaneously delete texts. That is probably the single most aggravating thing I've ever encountered with any phone ever. It doesn't help that my first phone was defective and would crash every 20 minutes.

I have never encountered so many headaches with a phone. I really love it the idea of it, but it was poorly executed, IMO. It just could be so much better...

It's a little slow. Or it can get that way, at least, if you don't manage your tasks. Battery life is very poor, even with task management. With even heavy texting(as opposed to browsing the web), the battery is toast in as little as 6 hours. It sucks not being able to get through the day without having to charge your phone. It does fucking retarded things like pick the wrong person to reply to when you're texting multiple people and moving fast, even though you see the correct person's name turn orange. When you go back, the correct person's name is still selected, even though it put you into a completely random(as far as I can tell) thread. It's really bizarre, and extremely frustrating.

If the iPhone doesn't do shit like this, it's no wonder it's so popular. And it will probably remain that way.

this is why windows 7 will succeed. android has some nice features but it lacks the polish and professional design people want. come back a year from now and there will be two major competitors, ios and wp7

I disagree, new version Android are actually quite Polished and good. It is easy to intergate them with Exchange too. Apple's IOS is excellent. BB's os is crap. Windows mobile is crap - at least for now...
