Apple iPod RMA - whats the usual turnaround time?

So I got my wife an iPod touch for Christmas, and after updating it to 2.2, the wifi quit working. It was completely greyed out as an option, reset/restore etc none of that fixed it. so I called Apple and they sent me out a box, it came yesterday, and I sent it back out yesterday afternoon.

How long of a process is this, usually? I feel bad that she only got to play with her iPod for a few days before it crapped out.

I live in FL, and I think it took just over a week when I sent my regular iPod in a year or two ago.

maybe this is a stupid question, but can't you just take it into an apple store and have them replace it?

No Apple stores within 2 hours of here.

Where are you in PA? They just opened a store in Lancaster you know. But Tyranicus is correct, there is a shipping center near Harrisburg. We get our stuff from Apple in 24-48 hours.

Closest one is in Pittsburgh. I live in Altoona, right in the middle. So it's almost two hours west, and easily 2 hours east to the closest one.

The shipping label said Priority Overnight, too. So if I sent it Friday, should be there by now. I wish theyd update the Repair status online.

Ugh, you are in roughly the same spot I was in until Lancaster opened up. I could drive to Philly... which was about 1.5-2 hours. Or I could drive to Towson, MD... which was about 1.5-2 hrs. Pittsburgh was out of the question since it was approximately 3-4 hours depending on traffic.
