yep, for more $$$ than the old plain ipda, um, ipad.

The wifi 16GB is $499
The 3G 16GB is $629
The wifi 16GB + Mifi is $629

3G iPad:
No Contract
No Tethering (I think this is true, certainly not without jailbreak)
$15 for 250MB/month
$25 for 2GB/month ($25 for additional 2GB)

wifi+mifi iPad:
No Contract
Mifi supports up to 5 devices
$20 for 1GB/month ($20/1GB overage)
$35 for 3GB/month ($10/1GB overage)
$50 for 5GB/month ($10/1GB overage)

All in all, the plans look fairly competitve, the Verizon one is a little more expensive, but the fact that the mifi is a portable wireless router sure is a nice selling feature.

And AT&T will start selling them in stores on Oct 28 as well.

Gruber pointed out something interesting, the verbage in the press releases is pretty different.

Cook in the AT&T release:
“We look forward to expanding the reach of iPad, allowing even more customers to experience the magic of iPad for themselves. As we approach the holiday season, we are very happy that customers will now be able to buy iPad Wi-Fi + 3G at AT&T Stores.”

Cook in the Verizon release:
“We’re thrilled to be working with Verizon Wireless to get iPad into the hands of even more customers this holiday season. iPad allows users to connect with their apps and content in a more intimate, intuitive and fun way than ever before, and together with Verizon Wireless we’re offering an easy way to stay connected wherever you go.”

The AT&T one is fairly boilerplate, the Verizon one sounds pretty darn excited.
