Apple iGame

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple was working on something like this. However, they would need a lot of third party support to make enough downloadable content.

EGM always has an April fools story, in every April issue for as long as I've had a subscription to the magazine. Which has been 5+ years. So, the article is real - in that its really in the April issue of EGM, but Apple won't be releasing anything like this. I don't see Apple ever getting into the gaming business, mobile or home console. They just couldn't compete with Microsoft, much less Sony or Nintendo.

I remember during the early days of Street Fighter 2's popularity, they published a fake "boss" called Akuma. To get to him, you had to play the game without getting hurt once, then when you finally got to fight M. Bison, Akuma showed up and threw him off the screen, so you fought him instead of Bison. Had some nice screenshots too. Years later, Capcom actually introduced a character called Akuma, probably inspired by this article.

Haha, oh man, I can't belive anyone believed that... It seems like the author was all into it, and it wasn't till the last update that someone brought to his attention the April Fool's stunts EGM has pulled in the past.

I remember way back when, they also had a bit on how you could you unlock Sonic the Hedgehog in Super Smash Bros for the cube. Once again with screen caps.

I was thinking the same thing with the iPod video. Fake photos were released and tons of people said, "it would never happen..." but look now. People are buying TV episodes to watch on their iPod. Real or not, I think it's the next step in the natural progression. When someone figured out how to put Doom on their iPod, it was a big deal.
