I've said this before and I'll say it again, if you don't want to be tracked, don't own a modern smartphone of any kind. They are all going to track you no matter who makes it.

Not to mention that the carrier is probably tracking you as well. And all the websites that you visit. And possibly your government.

Seems there's no such thing as privacy any more. Kind of sad to see Apple budge on this as they've generally been one of the few companies that leaned more towards user privacy.

Also, the opt-out method described in the linked article is different from Apple's listed method. However, the article I've linked covers iAd (Apple's app advertising platform) which may be different from what the BI article is talking about. Also, I wouldn't call it that tricky to opt out as it's a pretty simple process. The only tricky part is that the opt-out setting isn't where one would expect it to be.

I enjoyed http://www.businessinsider.com/stop-tracking-on-iphone-2012-10 from the same site.
Did you know that Apple was tracking your engagement on the new iPhone 5?
Well, it is. Luckily Apple's new iPhone 5 operating system, iOS 6, has a feature that allows users to limit developers from tracking their every move for targeted advertising. (We knew there had to be a silver lining to default iOS 6 maps.)
I would like to say some real mental gymnastics are needed to come up with this twisted interpretation. But I think people might really just be this stupid.
