I have a desk full of around 25 iphones and ipads at work. I bet a third of those active device numbers are IT guys just keeping this crap in a drawer like me.

Hah yup, I have iPad 1's that won't go above 5.1.3 (iirc), iPhone 4's, etc. Piles of 'em. Some for spares, some with defects like screen cracks, some with just software that's so old that they aren't really useful anymore.
