its not hard being profitable when you have an army of loyal fanatics buying your overpriced crap :)

While it's overdone a bit, remember what Jobs has done for the company. Before he came back, the previous CEOs more or less ran it in to the ground. Jobs not only helped turn the company around, but made the hard descisions(and took the flak for them) when it came to things like dumping Copland for OS X, and then sending OS X back to the drawing board after OS X Server 1.x's dismal release. He's a very highly paid CEO, but from everything I've read, he's also one of the most involved CEOs in the industry.

Wasn't Apple close to gone several years ago? I remeber people were like "wth hell is an apple?"
I think much of their success probably has to do with Steve Jobs' return.

I don't care how much people bash apple. Girls dig apples, but not dell.

no they have only recently become slightly successful again because they make a computer look good on the outside, and the general group of people who buy apples look at design, not whats inside, and they don't read reviews, all they see is ohh look at that design, i don't want a boring looking pc.

well i buy on performance, not looks, and i'm happy with my beige box

do you think apple would have sold as many imacs is they didn't look so cute? NO, like i said design sells, sadly

and this whole war that goes on between pc and mac users is because apple makes outragous claims that a low mhz apple can "be 90% faster than a XXXXXmhz pc..." and it pisses us x86 users off.

i wouldn't give a crap is they only said hey check out our designs, our hardware-software interface is excelent, if you want smooth sailing come get a apple, but no, its hey check out our stylish powercr@p this 400mhz G4 can beat a p3 1ghz by 50%

(and then in real fine print it says in 9 commonly used photoshop applications- which we will never tell you what they are)

Jobs doesn't get a salary.
