Apple gaming division?

One division to produce games... riiight. What's that, maybe 1 game every few years? LET ME GET AN APPLE FOR GAMING RIGHT NOW!

(I dont hate apple, I actually like them... but this rumor is stupid)

That would be pretty cool, I think it would be more of a way to attract developers to make games than anything else.

Apple could go out and buy any of the publishers with financial problems.

The rumor didnt say anything about buying a publisher.

creating or purchasing a Game Development unit.

WTF do you think publishers are? Publishers own the vast majority of development studios. Its the quickest way to get a game divison. Creating one from scratch wont really do all that well and there arent that many established companies not owned by publishers that would sell to Apple.

Excellent! Now the Mac will have FOUR games! Breakout, Super Breakout, Super DUPER Breakout, and... umm.... Photoshop? 🙂

Merge it with Pixar, make a live action Toy Story or Incredibles games with graphics even remotely close to the films and I'll buy!

IIRC, apples still only get a fraction of the framerate pc's do, right? A while back.. a quake3 test on a mac get a whopping 90fps on the best apple.. at the same point, the best pc ran quake 3 (same settings) at like 250fps

It has to do more with the drivers than the hardware.
