I am a student and I work in IT like so many on the board.What has got my panties in a wad i s this nice brand spanking new 64 bit G5 sitting next to me. I am talking still in the box new. The problem is I have to give it away to some tard over in Theare arts in the next day or so. Now I know you are going to say " well eigen it not yours it the depts. etc..." I know that but ,but ...theatre arts,. If you told me its for physics or chem or econ. or EE. I would think cool well somebody is getting a sweet system. But then you tell me its going to theatre. Then I think what a waste of machine. The worst part is he gets the shiny new machine I am stuck inside building an image for this tard. But I guess thats the benefit of being in acadamie. Its still kind of a waste as his current machine is a 2002 dell.

Ok, here's what you have to do:

Tell him that you have to 'transfer files from his old computer' then take the '02 dell, gut the g5, put the dell guts in the case, install an osX lookalike shell, give them the g5 case, keep the real g5 for yourself, and enjoy. 😀

The best part of the G5 is the case. Besides, the Dell wouldn't fit in the G5 or vice versa.

Granted, the case is nice, but you gotta take what you can get. As for making the dell fit, duct tape is your friend.

Exactly, the g5 is a pretty sweet CPU, and osX is slick. The OP hates to see it wasted on someone who would just draw pretyy pictures or surf the web, all of which can be done just fine on a PC. The G5 is a great unix platform.
 
now if it was the 30" apple cinema display, I would be packing that into my trunk instead of delivering it to some theatre tard

Yeah I know how you feel..........I had to prepare a G5 here for a remote office and they didnt even really want it. Now their lowly student workers get to fondle it. 🙁

I think I will just build him his damn image then deliver it to him (but i will be rude when I do so ) . After all I want is 15-20 of the pentium III's down in the basement so I can build me a cluster.

They are not excatly customers. Their depts. authorize the purchase we order it and the build them an image to their specs.This is not a for-profit oragnization (as evidenced by some tard getting a G5)
