While SETI will run okay on the G4, RC5 is where the PowerPC 74xx (G4) series of procesors really shines. A dual 1GHz. G4 PowerMac can run RC5 at a whopping 21MKeys/sec. That's over five times faster than my Tbird 1.2GHz.

Migroo, I'm not sure that SETI Timer takes into account that these new machines have such a large L3 cache. I'm willing to bet that those 2MB of high-speed memory would cut down on the WU times considerably. You're right though, the only way to find out it to try it for yourself!

I installed SETI on one the G4's at work, but haven't had the time to get it up and running.
My buddy has it on his G4 at home, and MAN IT CRUNCHES!! Power PC's can pack a punch!
 
I will. they have 4 G4's 450's - 733's there, I got permission to run SETI on 2 of 'em (at night), since they're left on all the time, but just haven't gotten around to setting it up yet, and showing them how to turn it off during the day.
Like I said in another post, I had seti on my old 7200/120 a few years back, and it SMOKED my K6-2 450. Power PC 's can do some serious crunching! I'd love to get it on ALL the G3's and G4's there, but that'd never happen, the Electric bill would go through the roof! 26 Computers (All Power PC based) working 100% 24/7! 😀
I asked my friend who he's crunchin' his WU's away for, and he says he dosen't know, just thought the idea of SETI was cool. gotta send him this way. I'll let u know what the stats are, interested to see myself.

I have three Power Macs and they aren't doing anything right now 🙁

7200/120 PPC 601(dude this was $2100 years back!) in my bathroom closet
8600/350 PPC 604e at one of my friends house
8500/266 PPC 604 at public storage
7600/166(I wrecked this one) at landfill
