That brought back memories. We had these in the computer lab at school in the very early 90s.

We still had those ancient hunks when I was in school in the late 90s.
Used them (with an external 10mb sitting on top) to learn how to 'program' PASCAL.
Made me angry, the year after I took the course and graduated they scrapped the lot of them and put in Pentium III machines and started teaching C++.

I was in junior high in the late 90s. They had just bought a round of newer Macs circa 1997-1998. The government was implementing an entirely new curriculum so a lot of the old stuff got upgraded. One of the computers in the classroom came with Descent preinstalled. We used to ask the teacher to stay in at lunch recess so we could play it.

I grew up with them. My dad had an Macintosh LC and later a PowerMac he used for CAD work. So we always had them in the home until the 2000s. My parents eventually bought me a PC since that's what the high schools used. They stopped using Macs around 2002 when they bought PCs for their business. My dad was a hardcore Mac fan prior to then. All he owns now is an Apple TV which I bought him.
