I'm disappointed there is not a pen input.

With a Retina screen, you could theoretically replace paper since you can't see the pixels. I love my Wacom Intuos tablet on my computer...would equally love having one on the iPad for note-taking & drawing. That's probably the biggest feature I wanted on the new one.

They didn't mention it, but it's on the product page now. AppleTV uses the A5, not the A5X.

Apple TV 3 is very...bleh. 1080p. Whoopdeedoo. Tech specs still stay single core A5. Wonder how bad it'll choke on high bitrate stuff.
I imagine it won't. The Intel CE4100 uses a SGX535 and the Boxee Box will play 110Mb encodings.

IIRC, that would require a resistive touch screen, which is more significantly expensive/difficult to make compared to the capacitive touch screens.

Looks like I will finally be buying a tablet. I had been looking at the transformer prime for a while now, but since I now have an iPhone through work it will nice to be able to use the apps I buy across multiple devices. I was kind of hoping they would stop selling 16GB models and make the base $500 model the 32GB version, but that didn't happen. With the new high-resolution display I'm wondering if 16GB will be enough for me.

Predictable and disappointing launch to a certain extent. Basically they did the bare minimum of what everyone expected. Then again I thought that about iPhone 4S, and people still snapped them up like hotcakes.

Just think about what you're going to actually store on it.

16GB is typically plenty for most people unless you have some very specific usage in mind.

I just dont understand the retina display.

What is the point in having all those pixels when you cant do anything with them? You cant even open two windows, so you cant do any of the things that really require more screen space, such as cutting multiple text and image selections from multiple tabs and pasting them into one email. Ha! Make me laugh... You just try doing that on one of these pieces of trash. lol.

You cant play a video in one corner, chat in another corner, and manage your documents in another corner. So what you gonna do with 3 megapixel display? Look at dumbed down buttons and dumbed down optionless tabs and windows in a higher resolution? LOL.

And worst of all, if you play a game that actually could theoretically use all those pixels, it is going to drain the battery so fast you wont even want to play it.

What they needed to do was simply improve the battery life. Why bother with resolution upgrades when every piece of software is going to be developed to support the existing 100 million iOS device base? God it really makes 0 sense. People are just being asked to subsidize mindless tech advances for no rational purpose at all.

Of course none of this will actually stop 50 million morons from sheeple-trampelling each other to rush out and buy it.

I think the moron is the person that doesn't understand the point of the retina display on an iPad.

That 399 ipad 2 price point is going to be huge

I'm not sure about that, IMO they needed to come down to $299...last xmas I saw the ipad 2 at $449 regularly so perhaps this means $349 next xmas? at $299 next xmas they would have destroyed competitors...

What I am thinking of is that games will probably use much higher resolution textures. I wonder how large that Infinity Blade Dungeons game alone will take up.

It's an interesting update, but I might end up holding off this time. I would like mobile connectivity as I ended up settling for an iPad 2 without it.

I'm also hoping that iOS 5.1 fixes the problems I keep running into on my 4S. I keep meaning to go to the Apple Store to get it replaced, but I haven't had a chance to back it up and go. Today it pretty much became unresponsive in all applications until I restarted the phone. I miss the rock solid stability that my 3GS had. :(

Apple TV 3 is very...bleh. 1080p. Whoopdeedoo. Tech specs still stay single core A5. Wonder how bad it'll choke on high bitrate stuff.

I'm hoping it gets hacked and is a bit more fluid than the ATV2 is with XBMC. Then I could move my ATV2 downstairs as a permanent AirPlay device since my downstairs receiver only supports audio.

EDIT:

Oh and that new Infinity Blade Dungeons game looks pretty cool too. GameLoft has Dungeon Hunter, but the game has some really awkward design choices that somewhat turn me off. I beat #1, but I stopped playing #2 after I realized the upgraded class that I chose doesn't have that great of skills. Since you can't see the skills before you choose and can't revert your decision, I just gave up. It's kind of like what I did way back in Diablo II when I couldn't respec my Necro to get some necessarily talents that I skipped.

New iPad is cool. A bit disappointed (assuming) they didn't update the camera on the front of the device. Rear camera was a nice upgrade, but the front one really is crappy when skyping.

Pretty much summed up my feeling.
