First underage children now overaged women, who's next for these ruthless thugs?

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) – A Queens woman is suing Apple for $1,000,000 after smashing her face on a glass door at a Long Island Apple Store.

Evelyn Paswall, 83, claims that the glass doors at the front of Apple Stores pose a risk to the elderly.

Paswall’s attorney Derek T. Smith told the Post that,“Apple wants to be cool and modern and have the type of architecture that would appeal to the tech crowd, but on the other hand, they have to appreciate the danger that this high-tech modern architecture poses to some people.”

Paswall claims that she didn’t realize that she was walking into a wall of glass as she approached the store, and says that she broke her nose as a result of the collision.

Her suit claims that “The defendant was negligent . . . in allowing a clear, see-through glass wall and/or door to exist without proper warning.”

As of Saturday warning strips had been posted on the glass at Apples Manhasset store.

Lol, I knew someone who walked into their patio glass door and broke their nose. Now they just posted up a piece of paper to indicate the door is closed.

I know someone that walked through a screen door because they didn't.
Never seen anyone try and do that to a glass door.
Around here the doors to nearly all stores are glass. o_O

I had an uncle of mine go right through a 3rd floor glass window. He somehow managed to survive that.

Heh, when I was a young'un, I ran head first into a glass wall at the YMCA. Hurt like hell, but I don't recall breaking anything. Nasty bump on the noggin though.

If you're too fragile and blind to interact with the normal world, please stay home so the rest of us don't have to worry about such stupidity and getting sued.

Companies aren't responsible for the stupidity of people, but courts like to reward people as if companies were.

The fundamental problem with lawsuits like this is that those awarding judgement side with people because it's easier to empathize with a person, regardless of how stupid they are and how much they are at fault, than a faceless organization with gobs of money.

Obviously didn't see it. If you read the thread you would know this it's about someone walking into a window because they did not see it. :p
With that being the case it should be rarely evident that my post was about someone that walked into the screen on a door.

Context matters...

She didn't see the door.
Or the car she sideswiped during the drive over.
Or the cat she ran over.
Or the postman that barely jumped out of the way after she blew through the stop sign.

83 years old? I'd like to see her have to get an eye test. And when she fails it, they take her driver's license. B/C that's what this is really about. Getting those who cannot see off our roads. Off MY road, anyway. That's all I really care about.
