Apple, Dell, which one to get?

Okay. I know this is an age old debate. Ant lots of people say the dell is better. However. My dilema is with the HE discount I can get the Apple 20" for £455 shipped. Okay, it's a tad more expensive than the Dell. I wouldn't use the additional inputs on the Dell screen. I can get the Dell screen for £400 shipped. Is it really worth saving the £55 for a Dell?

As much as I like how the Apple looks, I've got to recommend the Dell due to the superior menu. I don't think the Apple menu gives you much control.

It's only £55, so get the Apple.

1. Support is NOT in India.
2. They are much more forgiving on dead pixels.
3. They test their LCDs for dead pixels before shipment.
4. Apple has something called "ethics".
5. The Dell is too plasticy.

I own both an Apple LCD and a Dell LCD.

I personally own a Dell 2005FPW which has the same panel as Apple's 20" LCD, and am pleased with it. However, if the prices were closer I'd have more serioulsy considered the Apple. Apple computers aren't always as fast as their PC counterparts for the money, but the build quality is excellent, and their service/tech support is way better than Dell's. The main point against the Apple is that it has less inputs than the Dell. I use two PC's with my Dell and a KVM swtich. I have the mouse/keyboard/sound going through the KVM and the video going to the DVI and VGA inputs on the 2005FPW. IIRC, the Apple only has a single (DVI) input for one source. Of course, you could get a DVI KVM, but they are way more expensive then a VGA KVM. I don't use the secondary PC often enough to worry about the fact that it's only using VGA, it's primary functions are serving up HL2 DM and Ventrilo.

If the price is close, go for the Apple..

Looks sooo soo good..

You do miss out on the rotation though! And VGA inputs!

Just got in touch with Apple about delivery times, hoping to have it sorted by the end of the week.

As for the rotation, I may have missed it, but I don't have it on my present moniter 😀

They aren't more forgiving than Dell, but they are more forgiving now on their own products than they were before.
Apple doesn't even have a public dead pixel policy.

I have a Dell 2005fpw and love it, but if it's only 55 pounds more, I'd go for the Apple. Quality control is very tight on Apple products, and that brushed aluminum look is incredible.
