Hello My name is Anthony, i am study business at the university of brighton. I am conducting research into consumer behaviour and want to know your views on what drives you to buy apple products. Below are a series of questions, in your posts if you could please answer all of the questions.

1. what are your perceptions of the Apple brand?

2. how does the Apple brand enhance your life through its products?

3. What makes Apple products worth paying a higher price compared to alternatives? (not looking for what features are better on Apple products)

Many Thanks for taking part in my research. it is much appreciated.

Anthony, unfortunately, you're starting from a biased viewpoint, from that point of view, you can't produce meaningful data.

Have fun in business, you're gonna get your ass handed to you...

My preception is the more a person hates Apple the less they've actually used the products. I use to hate Apple products with a passion. A "fuck them I'll never use their products passion!" now I own an iPod Touch and I even use OSX quite often on my Hackintosh.

2. how does the Apple brand enhance your life through its products?

They have the best mobile apps bar none with make doing anything on my mobile device more of a pleasure.

For what I bought there honestly isn't an alternative, so it's hard for me to argue for or against the price when there's no product to compare it too. IMHO my iPod Touch can't be considered priced too high until I can get another PMP that does everything this does for less money.

1. what are your perceptions of the Apple brand?

A well run business. In general, well designed products.

2. how does the Apple brand enhance your life through its products?

Music and portable media on the go. My daughter likes the educational apps on the iPhone (which are usually compatible with the iPad and iTouch as well).

3. What makes Apple products worth paying a higher price compared to alternatives? (not looking for what features are better on Apple products)

In general, they have better build/design than the competition. They are not the most innovative company but at the same time they seem to have a knack for integrating various technologies into a coherent whole that is highly usable. I'd categorize them as integrators.

This x 10 million.

There are some unbiased viewpoints in here but the small sampling of posts in this thread will show the biased viewpoints and how much irrational hate there is for Apple. Seriously, who made some of you God and dictator of what products people should or shouldn't enjoy and how people spend their monies?

I think people should buy all the overhyped Apple stuff they want. It amuses me.

I used to not like Apple very much either, until I started using their phones and laptops, two of which I own. I'm not a fan of their other products, just the phone and laptop. The reason behind that is that I can't find another manufacturer that can draw me away from these two devices.

My least favorite device from Apple would probably have to be their mouse. I don't understand how something so simple can be messed up. Oh well, thats why I have my trusty logitech.

That perception is wrong in its applicability to me.

I thought you said you don't own or never will own an Apple product. So you use Apple products that other people own?

Everyone here knows I don't like Apple at all but I probably use more Apple prodcts than some Apple fans. Daily I use a MBP, Apple TV, and iPad. I always get to try the newest Apple products on day one cus my brother is an insane Apple fan and gets every new Apple device that comes out. If you like them great, if you don't you don't, there`s always options for everything.

1. what are your perceptions of the Apple brand?

I view the Apple brand as a logo that allows a company to charge a higher price for a similar if not lacking product.

2. how does the Apple brand enhance your life through its products?

It doesn't. I do not own a Apple PC (that's right, an Apple Personal Computer), an iPod (I had a Nano but have since switched over to a Zune HD because of what I perceive to be a better UI), or phone (I use a BB).

3. What makes Apple products worth paying a higher price compared to alternatives? (not looking for what features are better on Apple products)

I do not think anything justifies the higher price. The money that is invested in build quality is made up by throwing older technology into the devices. There is also a ridiculous price difference between how much their products cost to build and how much they charge for them.

These are my views. Some may agree, some may not. I hate the way that Apple deliberately misleads people by claiming that they have created an "innovative product" based on technology that has been around for quite some time. I hate how they patent ideas rather than products. I hate how Steve Jobs gets up on stage and everyone starts cumming in their pants waiting for him to announce that their latest and greatest OS will allow users to use Full Screen Applications and Auto-Save. OH GOD!!! SAY IT ISN'T SO!!!

And I absolutely hate how Apple bashes Microsoft for an inferior product when I see Macs running Windows 7 ALL THE FUCKING TIME! If your shit is so good, why not allow Dell or HP to install OSX?

And that is why I hate Apple.

EDIT: I wish someone could do a study going back to when Apple moved from IBM chips to Intel chips and track how much sales have grown since users were allowed to Dual-Boot into MS OS's

I am locking this. But I will say that this forum is Gadgets, Gear and Phones and that Apple makes a variety of gadgets and phones and it's disappointing that a rational discussion about the company and it's products and business seemingly isn't possible here.
