10:52AM PDT - In the camera roll it auto presents you with what it thinks is the best photo out of a burst shot

10:52AM PDT - In real time as you take burst photos, the photos are analyzed for sharpness, exposure, face detection, etc...

O_O

10:53AM PDT - 120 fps slo-mo mode

oh snap, get ready for 120fps slo-mo corgi videos.

Is the memory of the iphone 5 currently maxed out? are people using it for programs that require ~4gb of ram access?

It all depends on the ISA. Larger memory pools are simply a factor of the bigger register size, which can also allow more data to be processed per μOp.

Very nice, Touch ID ONLY stored locally on the device. No iCloud backup and no transfer to apple servers. This is a great thing.

10:59AM PDT - You can use it to make iTunes purchases instead of password

10:59AM PDT - Just touch the home button to unlock once you've taught it your fingerprint

well, that's a nice use for it.

I really, really wanted a Note3 2 weeks ago, but man I gotta say Apple knows how to do presentations. EVERYTHING that was said in this presentation, I would actually use in my day to day activities....

I cannot say the same for the Note3 presentation.

decisions decisions....

Damn might have to get a 5s gold one. I'm rocking a pretty old Galaxy S1 (although ICS makes it usable).

What about NSA? :whiste:

Only if they have permission to enter the "enclave". :p

EDIT:

Did I miss something or did they never talk about the GPU other than this slide?

I don't think they talked about performance much. Infinity Dev said performance is 5x. I assume he means the GPU, but still pretty vague.

I don't like the gold at all. It looked like it had white inserts on the top and bottom of the back. I'm not a fan of white with gold.

I'd like to see the gold in person. It has to be very subtle gold for it to look good.

I have no horse in the race. It actually is brilliant how Apple is convincing the masses that a plastic iPhone 5C for $99 is better than a metal iPhone 5 at $99.

Nothing stopping you from buying an iPhone 5 or 5S, hipster. No need to lose your shit.

I guess it doesn't matter that they improved the LTE. This pretty much confirms the "Apple users only care about looks" stereotype.

man, ATT doesn't even have LTE in my area. I could care less about LTE.

//edit

or wait, does it? How's ATT LTE coverage these days, or am I still with HSPA+? Htf do I find out?

Apple probably didn't upgrade LTE because this new generation probably has a hit on the battery life.

Oh my god, no 802.11ac? No mention of LTE bands support? WTF does most LTE bands in the world even mean....

If this phone doesn't at least address LTE fragmentation, I will give it a huge PASS.

No NFC, not that I care.

No LTE-Advanced, but I suspect they'll add it to the iPhone 6 next year.

No 802.11ac. Oh well.

No mention of RAM. No surprise there, but if it had 2 GB, that would future proof it pretty well.

It looks like the 5C might is not actually cheap. The cheap phone is the 4S. Ugh.

I wish they would have listed off-contract pricing, but I'm thinking it will be:

CAD$449: 4S
CAD$599: 5C 16 GB
CAD$699: 5C 32 GB, 5S 16 GB
CAD$799: 5S 32 GB
CAD$899: 5S 64 GB

Hmmm... I'm liking the 5S, at least when you consider that the 5C isn't cheap, but do I really want to spend $800 on an off-contract 32 GB 5S? Ouch. That's more than I spent on my last (used) MacBook.

P.S. Gold/champagne looks great for electronics in my opinion, as long as it's not too deep a gold colour (like 24 carat gold).

Can someone explain the "twice as fast, 56x as fast" thing? How does this compare to the iPhone 5 in CPU and GPU performance.
