Rather buy a Dell that is 3,000 times better for the same price. Why does Apple charge so much. They could be competitive if they wanted...

Sorry but...

Macs are money pits.

But if you're in the market for one, I guess this could be considered a "hot" deal.

they each have their place in the market...I mean I would really like to see a PC notebook for $799.99 that can give me 4.5+ hours of battery life...or 6 with the extended life battery. The iBook is pretty nice for students and people who travel a lot, Centrino and Pentium M are great, but they can't compete price wise with this Apple deal.

The iBook is smooth, but the G3 is a bit long in the tooth, considering the G4 has been out for 5 years....

You can pick up a current G4 iBook for $1000, it's up to you if $200 is worth it for the better proc.

To blow past all of the 5-year old Mac-vs.-PC debates, let me tell you THANK YOU.

I'm planning on picking up a Mac within the next eight months after a hiatus of 5 years, so this will be a great way to look for deals.

Keep up the good work.

The only place with more ignorance is a clan rally. I don't have a mac, never have, but sure I have enjoyed using a friend's ibook. It is a great machine and if I had the money for a laptop I would be interested. It is like all these young PC types go to a brainwashing seminar and spew out the same old tired rhetoric and few have even experienced what they are bashing. It is the same on the Mac fanboy front with the irrational anti-Gates banter. However, the PC cult seems much more brainwashed and closed minded. Great topic, hope it is up and running when I am in the market.

Not saying that most of the Dell deals aren't better, but...definetely not 3,000x. You're locked into looking at processor speeds and comparing and comparing Apple's and Dell's is like comparing AMD's and Intel's solely by processor speed...

As far as getting a decent workable laptop for $800...that's not bad at all.
