If you have an iPhone, you pretty much have everything you need and more in an extremely affordable and functional appliance that holds it's value from the time you buy it to the time you regretfully sell it. I've not touched my PS3 and my laptop has hardly been used since I bought my 3GS and I now considering ridding it for a 4G even though I am not eligible for an upgrade yet. Gaming is pretty much mind boggling on the little devices. Apple has created a household necessity that is synonymous with Bounty branded paper towels.

They didn't. There aren't any real games for the Wii. They're all kids games, really. The graphics are awful.

The ONLY reason the Wii is kicking ass in sales is because it's cheaper than the rest.

Period.

PS3 kicks ass as a movie player and is gaining momentum in the game library area.

The 360 is still the king of adult console games.

I bought a Wii for Super Smash Brawl. Excellent game, but online was terribad. Sold the Wii.

I bought a PS3 for Final Fantasy 13. Didn't even finish the game. Sold the PS3 and the game.

I didn't buy an Xbox360 since it would really be giving Microsoft free money, since they are guaranteed to break and all the same games worth buying are already on the PC.

I shall buy a PS3 again for the Bluray player when they reduce the size to the size of a Apple TV or something. I mean come on, the POS hardware inside should up take nearly that much space.

finally lets remember this. The iPod is a touchscreen device with multitouch.

It has a world class keyboard even us Android users dream of having. Yes, you can talk about larger 4.3" screen, Swype, whatever it is, but there's no soft keyboard that has multitouch on Android (until recently Moto released its own for the DroidX, or 3rd party Smart Keyboard Pro) that's quality material. Even then, those keyboards don't have the autocorrection or prediction quality of the iPhone keyboard. This was my first gripe against Android. Typing. I could type with my eyes closed on the iPhone. We all know how much easier it is to type on a larger screen, use landscape, etc, but the fact that I can type with my eyes closed on the iPhone and rely on the autocorrection to give me a perfect sentence is pretty amazing.

I don't even know why I struggle with my Droid and the 5 different keyboards I've installed. It's kinda pathetic.

But seriously, if Android can't even compete, how do you expect Nintendo and Sony to give you a good enough soft keyboard. Especially when Nintendo's DS is using resistive technology. you might as well compare that to the old Windows Mobile PDAs.

And browser. Look at Android. people talk about the crappy stock browser, rely on Dolphin HD which doesn't do it perfectly either, rely on Skyfire for videos, rely on xScope for advanced features, blah blah. It's fragmented. Safari Mobile is probably the best mobile browser out there. You want a better browsing experience on Sony's PSP or Nintendo DSi? You've gotta be kidding me. Not to mention they don't even outdo Android's inferior browser.

360 is guaranteed to break  hahahahahahaha...

Whatever homeslice. Ever since the release of the Falcon memory modules FOUR YEARS AGO, the 360 shouldn't RRoD.

Guaranteed to fail...

I'm pointing out smartphone features that the iPod excels at. If Android can't even get that down yet, how do you expect Sony and Nintendo to give you a proper touchscreen experience?

??? Why are you comparing a PSP which has no touchscreen at all and a DS that doesn't rely on it's touchscreen for everything and then bringing in Android multi-touch into it which has NOTHING to do with the discussion at hand. You're acting like you have to have a touch-screen to have good gaming. It's actually the other way around. Buttons are better for gaming than a touch-screen is.

"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360_technical_problems#cite_note-20 On the 8th of February 2008, during the Game Developers Conference 2008, Microsoft announced that the "Failure rate has officially dropped", but without mentioning any specifics.[22] The same month, electronics warranty provider SquareTrade published an examination of 1040 Xbox 360s and said that they suffered from a failure rate of 16.4% (one in six). Of the 171 failures, 60% were due to a general hardware failure (and thus fell under the 3 year extended warranty). And of the remaining 40% which were not covered by the extended warranty, 18% were disc read errors, 13% were video card failures, 13% were hard drive freezes, 10% were power issues and 7% were disc tray malfunctions.[23][24] SquareTrade also stated that its estimates are likely much lower than reality due to the time span of the sample (six to ten months), the eventual failure of many consoles that did not occur within this time span and the fact that many owners did not deal with SquareTrade and had their consoles repaired directly through Microsoft via the much publicized extended RROD warranty."

Excellent quality nevertheless though right?

Xbox 360 is like an American Car. Only possibly worse.

By not giving you one.

I am, for instance, very happy that my PC does not have a touch screen experience.

LOL. Yeah that's why  The Wii is a success because it tapped a market nobody thought about targeting before Nintendo. Sony and Microsoft tried to stuff PCs in a box where Nintendo brought gaming to the whole family. The Xbox 360 was been priced less than the Wii for a long time and the Wii still outsold it.

What family do you know that plays a Wii?

Who do you know that has a Wii who isn't 1) a parent who doesn't play it or 2) a child themself?

How many Xbox 360 owners do you know who aren't 14 - 32 year-old virgins living in their parent's basement? Oh was that a stereotype?

Dwell already said it. The Wii is a success because it marketed towards the casual gamer. There's nothing else anyone can say. It's more successful than any other console.

Full of unpopular titles other than stupid games like Mario Kart and kiddie titles.

I'd rather buy a console and play it than buy one for cheaper that has almost thing worth playing and let it collect dust.

Besides, there's a BILLION other cool things I can do with a 360 that the Wii couldn't hope to accomplish.

Ok well YOU like the 360 better but EVERYONE else likes the Wii more. Numbers show it.

But I'm more important than they are. :(

:p

I got a Wii on launch but haven't touched it in literally two years. Just not enough games I like on it but just because I don't like it doesn't mean it doesn't sell like hot cakes.

Selling like hotcakes doesn't mean it's good, either. Apple sold something like 600,000 iPads the first day they came out...

I never said the Wii was good or not. Just that they appealed to a market that no other game company marketed to before.

So how many users have MS games? Say like freecel and minesweeper. hmmm.
Does that make them rule the PC gaming market?

I am a Wii owner who exists outside of your parameters (also a 360 owner who exists outside of mine). The Wii is a success because it targets casual gamers. iOS gaming is a success for the same reasons, and others...

1) Casual, accessible games.
2) No controller to intimidate non-gamers.
3) Cheap.
4) Quick to pick up and play, quick to put away.
