Apple Cinema HD Display

Has anyone hooked one of these bad boys up to a PC? Maximum PC seemed to do it and really liked it. Normally I am not a fan of Apple products, but when I was at Fry's the other day I thought I would take a look at it, and all I have to say is WOW! It was huge and had a super duper quality image. I now really want to get it and hook it up to my GF4, but at $3500, I don't think that will happen for a while.

It uses a DVI port, but you will need an Apple DVI-to-ADC adaptor (expensive) to hook it up to a PC.

There's also the problem of getting your card to display the ungodly 2040x1080 or whatever resolution, and then finding games that support thatr res.

Well, my Sony allows cropping to fit the display ratio of certain resolutions, I'm sure th Apple can too. Also, there are VGA to DVI converters out there and most cards can support 2000whateverx1080 using the VGA port.

Except why spend $2500 on a monitor that can display those resolutions, only to use it in cropped mode? Don't get me wrong, I love that screen, but if I'm going to buy it I want to be able to use it like it was intended.

it is a nice monitor...i have a customer with an apple that has one just like it and still cant find a video card to drive it..2 suggestions

1) forget the studio monitor and buy a real nice nokia or hitachi 21 incher with a .22 dot pitch... $200-400 on ebay (off lease model) ..I have both nokia and hitachi 21 inchers and they have a GREAT picture

2)buy the newest radeon 9700 pro video card $397 (brand new on pricewatch) ...from all the reviews it blows the geforce 4 away...refer to anandtech review if you're curious.

for 3500 bones you should be able to build 2 kickass game boxes WITH MONITORS

I am wondering if the GF4, NV30, or 9700 have display modes to display things on screen with the same aspect ratio, because I do not want any sort of cropped, stretched or the like image. Is this possible?

Who makes the screens for these things, and do they also manufacture PC monitors?
I generally don't like LCD monitors - picture always looks to pixelated for me, but I too saw the Big Bad Apple at Fry's and was blown away!
