Apple Cinema display DVI work with a PC?

Since the pre ADC (apple display connector) Cinema display used DVI, has anyone been able to try it with a DVI video card in a PC? Like a Hercules Prophet II for instance. I am just curious to know if it works.

Btw, is this apple display connector something that will become standard with digital flat panels or is DVI going to be the standard?
