Ran across this article at Mac Rumors:

I'm pretty sure that the next LCD updates from Apple will be LED based. iirc the existing ones go back to 2004, so they've been waiting a looooooooooong time for an update. Personally, I'm a BIG fan of LED displays. My last 15" Macbook Pro had an LED display and it was AMAZING. My 24" Dell HC LCD monitor is pretty good, but could definitely benefit from the enhanced black levels and color boost that the LED monitors have to offer. Samsung is already offering a 30" LED, albeit for $4300:

I'm also curious to see if Apple will offer an integrated iSight. They stopped selling iSights a long time ago, and recently someone found a reference to an "iSight HD" in a line of Apple code somewhere. That is both cool and weird, because even with my "fast" cable connection, my regular Macbook webcam chats are pretty grainy. We need a serious upgrade in upload speed if an iSight HD is going to take off.

Another thing I'm curious about is DisplayPort, seeing as how this is supposed to be the new standard in display connections. Will the ACD have DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort...?

Well, the current ACD has DVI, Firewire and USB... I don't see them switching to HDMI since none of their systems have HDMI, and that is the same reason why I don't see them using DisplayPort. I still contend, that even with its increased size, DVI is more versatile than HDMI.

I don't see what the big deal is with the "size" of a connector...they're all less than TWO INCHES!!! lol

Right, but many put HDMI or DisplayPort up on a pedestal since it is so tiny compared to DVI.

It just seems to me like Apple's track record with monitors is that they're insanely overpriced and have even LESS features than their competitors' cheaper offerings. For once, I wish Apple would go for function over form with these things. I want to see all sorts of connectivity, including a USB hub, multiple display inputs (2 DVI/HDMI, Component, VGA, etc), but most importantly, i'd like to see a vertically adjustable pneumatic stand! If Apple is going to keep with their overpriced scheme, their monitors better do everything that my "low-end" Dell monitor can do, and then some.

I really, really doubt I'll ever buy an Apple monitor. The price/performance is just terrible. The "but it runs Mac OS" argument simply doesn't apply. Dell monitors look great, are much cheaper, have better features, and have a 3 year warranty (at least mine does, standard).

So what exactly is the point of getting an Apple monitor? Seriously, is there something I'm missing?
