Apple Cinema Display (20" flat panel)

The Dell 2005FPW uses the same panel and can be had for $400-500 less than the Apple... I have one myself and I love it. 🙂 (As do many others on the forums here)

If you absolutely must have the Apple name and style (and it's worth that much extra money to you), then I imagine it would be a good gaming monitor as well.

when you say "uses the same panel" are you saying they are built by the same peeps? Or just built to about the same specs?
I was in CompUSA and was completely blown away at how crisp the monitor looked. Especially the 30" model.
I've never seen the Dell in person is it as beautiful? lol

I'm really looking into getting this monitor...BUT if the Dell is just as good I'll take the saved cash 🙂

The entire unit is a monitor. The actual LCD itself is the panel.

Very few companies actually make their own LCD panels. Samsung and LG-Philips, for example, make their own LCD panels (and sell them to other companies). Sony, Apple, and Dell buy these panels and put them in their own monitors as they do not make their own panels.

The Dell 2005FPW monitor uses the same panel as the 20" Apple Cinema Display. It's also cheaper and can be pivoted / rotated to make a taller/narrower screen.
