My 2010 15" MBP started to randomly shut down this past month. I took it down to the Apple store, where they said it was some faulty RAM. I got the laptop back the next day, but it was still shutting down randomly. I took it back again and this time they changed the logic board and returned it back to me within the next 2 days.
Now I kept wondering if they actually did any repairs to my MBP because of the extremely short turn around (and 2 of them in a week). I got the laptop back on Friday, and discovered it was still crashing on Sunday. I was fuming hot because I thought the apple geniuses took me for a ride.
Back at the store, the service tech who was now familiar with my problem offered me a brand new MBP before I even got to unleash my anger on them. So I walked away with a 2011 15" MBP with similar specs to the 2010 I had (256gb ssd, 8gb, high resolution screen) but with a bumped CPU spec, i7 2.3GHz quadcore sandy bridge from the 2010 dual.
With this kind of support, I'll keep buying Apple.
