Microsoft really doesn't need commercials to compete with Apple. That said, I did like the Laptop Hunters ads (I like the Mac ads, too).
Apple's legal dept complaining about the claimed price in MS commercial versus the actual price after the price drop seems a bit petty. If it were a huge difference, yeah, I could see them taking issue with MS making false claims. What both companies really need to do is just play to their strengths and develop better products. No one wants to see the bickering take on a political or legal face.

I have yet to hear anyone complain about the Bing commercials, in fact I don't remember hearing people comment so much about commercials (and in my experience entirely positive) in a very long time. They might not work for tech savvy people, but they seem to be working well on the general consumer.

the commercials are retarded, if they approached me and gave me money to buy a laptop I'd get a Mac. Only reason I don't own one is they cost too much. If it was bought on somebodies else dime the story would be different. I know that commercial wouldn't be aired, but I somehow think I wouldn't even get to keep the Macbook lol.

That's the fucking point. They go in with a budget, and the macs are above budget. You'd fit right into what they are looking for.
