Apple battles NYC over logo

Looking at NYC's GreeNYC campaign logo -- a little green apple with curve bisecting it -- it certain looks harmless. The GreeNYC campaign was launched by Mayor Bloomberg as part of a vision for sustainability over the next twenty-five years. It aims to cut the city's carbon emissions by 30 percent and to conserve natural resources.

The innocent looking logo has been popping up of late on bus shelters, hybrid taxis and shopping bags from Whole Foods. The city filed for trademark for the logo in May 2007. Soon after filing Apple began a fierce legal campaign against the symbol, which it has continued to escalate to the present. Apple claims that the earth friendly logo will, "seriously injure the reputation with which [Apple] has established for its goods and services."

Argh! What stupid fucking pussy assholes! Does it fucking matter? Tell the lawyers to go back to buttfucking each other and let this little shit slide. God, all the serious issues we have to deal with, and they're worried about the COMPLETELY separate usage of an image of a PIECE OF FUCKING FRUIT!

Hmmm..

I'm with the NC Apple Festival, Inc. We were established back in 1939 or there abouts by the state legislature. We promote the apple industry here in NC and have been using the image of an apple far far longer than Apple, Inc.

Maybe we should sue Apple, Inc.?

I agree. Apple should lose this one. Even if you believe someone could be dumb enough to confuse the two logos, the law for trademarks requires some possiblitity that the two designs would somehow create confusion in the mind of the public about the products/interests of the two entities.

Does Apple Inc. really think anyone will believe that ANYONE could confuse a computer or an iPod, with a freaking CITY?

Next, we'll be flaming noob spammers for offering free cities, instead of iPods.

Yes, behold the power of the apple. Ever shall it be an evil and tempting fruit that provokes dissension and conflict.

It was the snake who tempted Eve into eating the apple. Prompting an enraged GOD to cast all of humanity out of paradise.

Then the apple somewhat seemingly rehabilitated itself, at least in the USA, with Jonney apple seed and as American as Mom and apple pie. And shortly thereafter, we became an imperialistic nation. But sure enough and once again, only in America, two American icons, NYC and Apple Computers are battling over that damn apple again.

And I say lets internationalize this. After all there is Apple Records and the Beatles who need to bring their dog to the dog fight.

We need to get a clue, its the apple that is evil. And we need to exterminate that evil fruit if we want to have world peace. So I will do my bit, got to go fire up my chain saw and get rid of the two apple trees in my back yard.

Well there is a Wireless carrier sueing that they own the color Magenta.

There is a couple of companies thinking about banning the use of letters of the Alphabet because they feel they own the letters too.

This is going to get interesting.

Thanks for trashing gay people to make your complaint. You're right, gay people everywhere are to blame for the bad behavior of others.

Anyway, Apple has a lot of nerve going after others for using an apple logo since Apple Records (the Beatles' label) had the apple logo first and Apple even promised in a legal settlement to never enter the music business. That promise was really kept, eh?
